The Grand Hotel Lerwick, Lerwick

The hotel room, though tatty at times and lacking soap, met my expectations for size and quietness at the price of £160/night. The service was exceptional, with the staff dividing their time efficiently between hotels. The location was perfect, offering easy access to Lerwick town center and the harbor, with excellent parking. The dining experience was fantastic, with a wide range of options and personalized service from the chef.

The hotel offered comfortable rooms with fantastic views and actual baths, perfectly suited for an overnight stay. Though slightly small, the room was cozy, and the bed was comfortable. The outdated decor on the third floor was a drawback, along with the subpar shower. The service was top-notch with a dedicated and friendly staff. The location was ideal for various activities, especially for exploring the islands. On the downside, the room being on the sixth floor was a bit of a hike, but it was convenient for accessing the hotel's nightclub. Dining, cooked by Chef Mickie, had its disappointments with old salmon and eggs, not served timely. Despite some drawbacks, the hotel had its positive points, such as the central location and friendly staff, making it a decent option for a stay.

My stay at the hotel was quite mixed. The rooms were spacious and exceeded my expectations, but they were initially freezing due to a heating oversight. The service was friendly overall, although there were some new staff members. The location was convenient for exploring Lerwick town center. The dining experience was fantastic with freshly cooked meals, but some leftovers were left out. The hotel has an interesting historical feel but could use some updates.

The rooms, though with local music playing in the evening, are cozy and have everything needed, but the dampness from the bathroom could be improved. The service, especially from Mick and Harvey, was friendly and exceptional, going above-and-beyond to make my stay super comfortable. Dining, despite a dish not meeting preferences, was fantastic with freshly cooked options and a friendly chef. The location with easy parking and pleasant surroundings was brilliant for my needs.

The hotel is in a fantastic spot, right in the center of Lerwick old town. The rooms are clean, comfortable, and boast some fantastic views.
